A married couple from Switzerland, Emil and Lilian Schmid, along with the Toyota Land Cruiser they further refine the world record for the longest travel. Recorded their first world record in the Guinness World Records in 1997, and after that the couple never return home, but went on a trip around the world. Emil and Lilian begin their long journey in 1984, and for 30 years they visited 180 countries by driving the same car, the Toyota Land Cruiser, and until now they still old Land Cruiser.
Their adventure begins when one day Emil approached her and said he wanted to travel by car with his wife and wanted it. The wife agreed and they began shipping their Toyota Land Cruiser from Iceland to New York. It was in 1984 when the Swiss couple just wanted to travel for two years in North America.
But in fact, they even transmissivity. Once in North America, Emil and Lilian crossed into South America and then to Africa, Australia, Asia and back to Europe. All that they had traveled for 10 years. And today, after 30 years since their departure, Emil and Lilian still continuing their journey to South Aftica. They told me that the Land Cruiser and drove around the world are not fussy.
Never a moment of their flagship car is damaged, the axle broke. But a local Land Cruiser club to help them improve and the long journey resumed. For lunch on the way, Emil and Lilian carry jerry cans for drinking and cooking water, beds, tables, chairs, cooking utensils, water purification, blankets and mosquito netting.
In the last record Guinness, on July 16, 2014, Emil and Lilian have traveled as far as 692 227 km and visit 180 countries. In addition to the couple, as reported by Road Trippers, who deserves the award-winning world record longest journey is the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 60 models in 1982.
